On Saturday, February 11, Aiyegbeni scored his 13th goal in the English premier league season, when they played against Taiye Taiwo’s new club queen parks rangers. The match ended 3-2 in favor of Blackburn rovers.
When asked, Stephen keshi never made a conclusive statement, he said, "Where did you get the news that Yakubu is on my list," Keshi questioned when asked if the player’s absence on the field in the last three weeks would have affected his chances.
"I never said Yakubu was on my list. But if he makes it, good for him and if he doesn't, that means he was not good enough"
"But why not just wait until next week for you to find out who makes the list." Owing to the recent form of Aiyegbeni and the fact that as the latest super eagles’ head, he would like to carry as less risk as possible by making sure he utilizes his best, he will be taking lessons from what happened in the past and taking advantage of every positive opportunity.
Having Aiyegbeni and Odemwengie on the field will not only bring results, but will create a lasting opportunity for him to get the poorly rated eagles back on track. Keshi will be playing a friendly in Monrovia against the Liberian team on Monday, using entirely home based players.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria’s defender Taye Taiwo has been reported to cost his new club something around £4 million which when converted to the naira currency will be around N1 billion. This money must be paid if manager Mark Hughes is interested in keeping the player beyond the end of the present season.
The Nigerian players has made it known that the club is very much interested to get his signature and let him stay in the club permanently after his loan spell is over. It should be recalled that the defender joined QPR on loan during the January transfer window after going through a difficult time at his Italian club AC Milan, where he had to fight hard to play any match.
Taiye taiwo unarguable has a lot of European experience due to his five years at Marseille. The introduction of Taiye Taiwo to the club will surely improve on the Hoops' hopes of avoiding relegation. The 26-year-old has only played twice so far for Mark Hughes' side, but according to the player, he said he was convinced that the club is already deliberating about making him a permanent fixture at Loftus Road stadium.
Taiye was quoted as saying "The fans didn't believe in me in Italy but I'm happy here and QPR want to sign me on a permanent basis,". English fans are known to be very positive when it comes to supporting players. This is what QPR needs most especially now that they must struggle to avoid relegation.
The All-Indian Football Federation (AIFF) has suspended the league organizers from taking part in any form of transfer involving high profile players. The move was made to prevent the league from taking part in FIFA’s transfer matching system. They claim that the ban was necessary because the six Indian teams from west Bengal who are supposed to take part in the league kick off in March are not affiliated to FIFA.
The secretary of AIFF Kushal Das said “The six franchises have been barred from seeking transfer of players because their documents are incomplete and proper procedures have not been followed”. Officially, the transfer window is to end on the 15th of February, 2012, creating panic in west Bengal as they race to put the new leagues on track.
The Indian football association (IFA), which is the body responsible for everything football in west Bengal confirmed that despite the ban, they are optimistic that the league will commence as planned.
The IFA secretary Utpal Ganguli said, ‘’the transfers were stopped owing to a misunderstanding, but everything will be cleared soon,”.
It is interesting to know that during the auction for international players at Kolkata, on January 30, the six teams spent a lot of money to ensure the transfer of world stars. With Crespo going for as much as $840,000 as annual salary, and Robert Pires of France fetched $800,000. While our own J.J got $550,000, just for one year of playing football.
The goal rain
started when osaze netted in the first goal at the 34th minute. But,
towards the end of the first half, wolves’ player Steven Fletcher cancelled the
Nigerian striker’s goal making it look as if it it’s going to be a tough match
for the baggies to win. Midway into the second half, player Jonas Olsson scored
from a fast strike to meet goal keeper Wayne Hennessey unawares.
At the 78th minute, Osaze scores again, making it all clear that it is wesbrom’s day. It seem like nothing was going to deliver Roy Hodgson’s side from the furry of Odemwengie as he completed his glorious outing with a goal at the 88th minute to finalize his treble. The performance makes osaze the third baggies player in history to take home Barclay’s premier league hat trick ball. The first two people who did it were Robert Earnshaw and Somen Tchoyi.
"It's a day to remember," said Odemwingie. "It was a good team performance - even our centre-half goes and scores! Jonas showed a lot of desire for his goal.
"I'm very happy also to get my first hat-trick in the Premier League’’.
"Both mine and the team's performances have been a bit up and down’’. Osaze confirmed.
He also said that they had a lot of chances because they
were so good on the counter-attack. "We felt like we could score plenty of
goals and we're so pleased with the result. "I've been dreaming about a
hat-trick in the Premier League - and on top of that it comes in a derby’’,
It was understood that Chelsea
was planning to loan out the player to Vitesse following the signing, but that
move is believed to be scrapped. The talented starlet is now expected to join
the club Dutch club ADO Den Haag on loan. "He will be with the youthful
Den Haag team for possibly a year or so to gain playing time and hopefully
return to England to fight for a shirt in Chelsea’s main team," Omeruo's
agent Obinna Emelogu was quoted to have said.
However, FIFA-licensed agent, Dominic Egbukwu, has debunked rumors in the media that he and his French partner, Noah Olivier, brokered the deal that helped the ex-Sunshine Stars FC of Akure and JUTH FC of Jos ace end up at Chelsea .Dominic said in an interview that it was Omeruo's skill that made the move a possibility and not personal contact or effort from anyone.
Egbukwu also revealed that Chelsea
had been tracking the defender since after impressing the club officials at the
FIFA U-17 World Cup which was hosted by Nigeria
and was recommended to Chelsea , but the clubs
Technical Director Michael Emenalo decided he wanted to watch him play at a
bigger stage in Colombia
“ Chelsea started monitoring Kenneth (Omeruo) during the U-17 World Cup held in Nigeria ,” Egbukwu explained.
“The officials were highly impressed with his performance. So, after the championship, we had a discussion with Chelsea Sporting Director, Mike Emenalo, who incidentally is a Nigerian.
"It's a big challenge as a lot is expected of the player."
"I believe in him and I believe after a season with Den Haag, he will be ready for Chelsea ." Egbukwu concluded.
